We would like to thank everyone who has been involved with the Computing Student Association (Formerly the Computer Information Systems Student Association). Whether you were a CSA/CISSA executive, a computing student, a UFV Faculty or Staff member, or one of our partners/sponsors, your contributions are the foundation of what we are today.
Special thanks to the following (in no particular order):
  • WaybackMachine for the archives of prior websites. Most of this wouldn't be possible without their service
  • LinkedIn for their search functionality which identified many executives/members of CISSA/CSA
  • Mike Lee (1994 Co-Founder & Vice-President, 1995 President) for the invaluable information regarding the startings of the association and for their efforts in creating the CIS Student Council (changed to CISSA later)
  • Avinesh Bangar (1996-2000 Webmaster) for providing some crucial information from 1996-2000
  • Derek Forese (2011-2012 President) for providing valuable information, names of executives, and connections
  • Graham St. Eloi (2011-2017, various positions) for providing details regarding executives and fundamental milestones for CISSA/CSA throughout 2012 to 2015
  • Maxine Cowan (2015-2017 Secretary, 2017-2018 Finance Officer) and Cody Beaty (2016-2020, various positions) for improving the quality and consistency of meeting minutes from 2015 to 2018
  • Samuel Shull (2024 Webmaster/Vice-President) for researching, collecting, and constructing this history into one place up until 2024
Note: This history is still a work-in-progress as we progressively fill in the gaps. If you have additional information to contribute, send us an email at csa.ufv@gmail.com

CISSA WEBSITE MISHAPS

Due to an error on my part (Jared), I kinda lost everything on the site back to the beginning of December. I've restored the last full backup I made, but that means nearly 2 months of stuff is missing. I still have partial wiki records, but recent forum posts have been lost (don't worry, it wasn't very active recently).

In any case, this has taught me a valuable lesson: don't rush into making sweeping changes to a structure when you haven't looked at everything.

I'll be working to restore the site as soon as possible. I might just go ahead and upgrade to the new Subdreamer CMS we recently purchased.

Sorry again about the mess! It'll all be better soon.

If you want to yell at me, you can either do it in person, or by email at:

cissa [dot] ucfv [at] gmail [dot] com

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
